Arsenal and Man Utd deal shocked Wenger
Arsene Wenger was reportedly surprised by Manchester United’s decision to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in January.
The Chile international has struggled ever since quitting north London for Old Trafford back in January.
And the Independent say Wenger was surprised by United’s decision to buy him.
It is said he thought Sanchez was ill-suited to a squad who lack energy.
And he reportedly thinks the Chile international was never a player in the Mourinho mould.
Emery job revelation
Unai Emery succeeded Wenger as Arsenal boss back in the summer.
And the Daily Telegraph have now opened up on the Spaniard’s appointment.
It is said he was chosen over Mikel Arteta because he had made clear his admiration for the current crop of players at the club.
And his refusal to ask for an Arsenal overhaul also swung the pendulum his way.
Ian Wright believes Arsenal have never had a better chance to beat United prior to tonight’s clash.
The former Gunners hitman told The Sun: “There haven’t been many times when the thought of facing Manchester United away has put a big smile on my face.
“Most years it has been more a case of “here we go again,” fearing the worst, and expecting very little.
“But when Arsenal are at Old Trafford tonight, for once I am honestly feeling very confident.
“In fact not since 2002, when Sylvain Wiltord scored the goal that clinched the title, or 1998 when Marc Overmars did likewise, has it been like this.”
