Chelsea have travelled to Belarus ahead of their Europa League clash with BATE Borisov tonight.

Boss Maurizio Sarri has a relatively fresh squad to choose from after recent injury problems have cleared up, with Eden Hazard set to feature for the Blues.

In his pre-match press conference, the Chelsea manager said: “From our doctor there is no risk, otherwise he stays at Cobham.

“In the last match he played 30 minutes, the best for [tonight] is that he plays 45 to 50 minutes.”

Sarri has taken the decision to leave Alvaro Morata at home to rest after recently hitting a vein of strong form.

Asked whether he was tempted to start Morata again, Sarri said: “No. I think it is the opposite. Morata stayed in Cobham just to rest, and then just to have training.

“I think it is better for him to stay fit with two or three trainings than only with matches. It is normal. Sometimes it is better than to rest than always play.

“To train on physical qualities. If they only play they will lose that physical quality.

“He played for three matches in a row, so I thought it was better to rest at Cobham and have good training. The only problem is Cesc [Fabregas]. He had a fever”

Fabregas’ absence is likely to be covered by Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho and Ruben Loftus-Cheek – who scored a hat-trick in the reverse fixture last month.

David Luiz, Antonio Rudiger and Marcos Alonso are expected to be rested, while Olivier Giroud is set to return to the side.
